ThinkRail

The agentic IDE that gets better every time you use it.

Built around the Pi coding agent. Every task gets its own workspace, every decision lands in a living spec, every workflow becomes a reusable skill.

Quick start

Install ThinkRail

Apple Silicon

Windows x64

Ubuntu 24.04+ · run ./installer

Foundational principles

Designed to compound

Most agents forget everything between sessions.  ThinkRail remembers — and what it learns today makes it faster tomorrow.

See what your agents are doing

No black boxes. Every terminal prompt, source code lookup, and tool invocation is rendered in real-time. Know exactly what your agents are exploring.

Plan first — keep the plan

Agents draft a plan before touching code. Approved designs land in living specs and stay with the project.

Run multiple agents without the mess

Each task runs inside its own isolated Git worktree. Run five distinct features in parallel without dealing with lock files, dirty indexes, or branch switching.

Living specs, not stale docs

Requirements, boundaries, and decisions in a linked graph the agent reads before every change — and updates as the code evolves.

Capabilities

Complete engine overview

[ 01 ]

Living specs

Specs the agent keeps current — read before every change, updated with every decision.

[ 02 ]

Parallel workspaces

Separate Git worktrees keep concurrent tasks from editing the same checkout.

[ 03 ]

Live change stream

Interactive diff view tracking every modified source file instantly.

[ 04 ]

Interactive questions

Agents pause and prompt you when requirements lack clarity.

[ 05 ]

Reusable skills

Teach a workflow once. The agent runs it the same way every time.

[ 06 ]

Per-session model choice

Choose the provider model and thinking level that fit each coding session.

01 / Development strategy

Living specs.

Requirements, boundaries, and expected outcomes go into the spec graph before any code. The design stays with the project — checked before every change, never left to rot.

$ cat specs/payment-integration.md

## Requirements
- Integrate Stripe Elements checkout flow
- Handle synchronous webhook signature verification
- Ensure robust token rotation logging

✓ Spec validation passed. Ready to spawn agent.

02 / Isolation environment

Parallel workspaces.

No more switching branches back and forth. ThinkRail uses local Git worktrees so concurrent tasks can work in separate directories and branches without sharing a dirty index or overwriting one another's files.

$ git worktree list

/Users/thinkrail/dev/app d4c55b6 [main]
/Users/thinkrail/dev/app-auth-fix 7b4aef9 [auth-jwt-fix]
/Users/thinkrail/dev/app-tests-refactor da4c55b [tests-refactor]

Running 3 environments in parallel. No index contamination.
